2018 Contest Information

The following paragraphs provide a brief summary of each contest and how to apply.  It is strongly encouraged for each club to apply for at least one contest, as it gives them each a chance to showcase their work and talents in front of the entire district!  Please keep in mind that some contests must be submitted by mail prior to the 2018 District Convention, some must be brought with your club to District Convention, and some must be applied for at convention.  A clear note of which category each contest falls into will be shown.

For a more detailed summary of each contest or for application forms, please reference the 2018 Carolinas Key Club Convention Contests Information Packet or the 2018 Key Club International Guidebook

Mailed Prior to District Convention

The following contests must be mailed prior to the 2018 District Convention.  All contests in this category must be postmarked by March 1st, 2018 and addressed to Mr. J. Scott Johnson, 2008 Pinecrest Dr., Greeneville, NC 27858

Distinguished Club Award

The Distinguished Club Award recognizes clubs for their outstanding performance in the areas of service, Kiwanis-Family relations, club administration, membership and leadership development, and fundraising.  In order to enter into the Distinguished Club Award, club officers will use the Annual Achievement Report.  If you are not entering in the Distinguished Club Award, your club will still have to fill out the Annual Achievement Report, but it can be brought with your club to convention instead of being mailed in advance.

Single-Service Report

The Single Service Report provides judges with information on a single, outstanding service project that your club has performed.  This service project may have only been performed within the past year to be considered eligible for submission.  Your report will be compared to other clubs of a similar size in order to allow for fairness of judging (Bronze Level: 35 and fewer members, Silver Level: 36 - 60 members, Gold Level: 61 - 85 members, and Platinum Level: more than 86 members).

Major Emphasis Program Award

The Major Emphasis Program Award recognizes clubs for their unselfish efforts to support Key Club International's Major Emphasis Program.  Any activities that a club enters as part of their support for the Major Emphasis Program may only be eligible if they were performed at any time from the 2017 Carolinas District Convention to the current year's district convention.

District Project Award

The District Project Award is given to those individual clubs who have contributed notable amounts of time and dedication through service to the Boys and Girls Homes of NC - our Carolinas District Project.  This award is not judged solely on the basis of monetary value donated to the organization, but instead on all around contributions, as stated earlier.  The service project submitted for this award may not be submitted for the Single Service Project as well.

Kiwanis-Family Relations Award

In order to qualify for this award, your club must have performed an outstanding service project with other members of the Kiwanis-Family outside of Key Club.  If your club has jointly-hosted a service project with either Builders Club, Circle K, or Kiwanis, then you are eligible to submit. Make sure to include only activities that have occurred from the previous District Convention to the current one.

Outstanding Kiwanis Advisor

Does your club know of an outstanding Kiwanian who has served your club amazingly?  If so, then they are eligible to enter in the Outstanding Kiwanis Advisor Award.  This award will be given to the Kiwanian who has shown, through exemplary efforts, how much Key Club means to them.  Nominations for this award must be made by the Key Club president from the club the outstanding Kiwanian sponsors or by a member of the Carolinas District Key Club Board.
